Harley Davidson decals can be removed from metal using metal wire or fishing line. Move the wire back and forth under the decal until it comes loose and can be pulled off.

Remove the rear seat screw. Then pull the rear seat to the rear and slightly up. It is held in by two metal tabs that slip under the front seat lip.
speed sensor is located to the rear of the transmission chrome (retangular) cover. there are four bolts on the cover, if you are looking at the bike from the right side just behind the cover rear bolt is the speed sensor. loosen and remove Allen bolt with 3/16 Allen and rotate sensor just enough to pry out. it is in there snug. i just removed and cleaned my sensor. there were metal shaving. My symptoms were no speedometer , odometer, and turn signal not turning off after conmpleting turn.
I'm not at all qualified in electronics but I would use an ordinary ohmmeter. Put one lead to a bare metal part of the bike and touch the other lead to each of the three prongs of the headlite. one of them should show zero resistance and that one should be ground. (I think!)
