Dirt bikes draw their origin from scrambling contests in the United Kingdom at the start of the century, where early motorcycles were raced along trails. These racers eventually started to adapt their bikes to cope with the terrain, the factories caught on to the act and started introducing motorcycles to cater for these people, with longer travel suspension, lighter stiffer frames and so on. Scrambling eventually evolved into trial and enduro rallies and became a worldwide sport, culminating in the ISDT(now the ISDE). All the different factories started competing against each other.
The first major transformation of dirt bikes was the introduction of effective suspension, front and rear. The next major breakthrough was the advent of expansion pipes for two stroke engines which virtually eliminated the four stroke thumper from most types of competition due to it's better power, lighter weight and simple design.
Dirt bikes continued to evolve over the years gradually getting more powerful, lighter, with better suspension and increasing reliability. Eventually mono-shock rear suspension replaced dual shock rears and the bikes became more specialised for the type of competition they were used for, trials, Motocross, enduro, desert racing or just trail riding.
Rule changes in competition meant that two-stoke bikes had to compete with four-strokes almost twice their size. This brought about a resurgance in fourstroke motorcycles which seem to have turned the tables.
Aluminium frames replace the steel frames that were common less than a decade ago.
The latest development is the introduction of fuel injected engines over carburated engines.
they made the tracks with tractors instead of hand.
the front of a dirt bike right in front of you mouth is pointed to make it easy to remove and pull over your nose

you could buy a cheap second hand bike, or a Chinese mini dirt bike for no more than £600. but if you go for quality Japanese bikes you will pay a little over £1000. http://www.dirtbikefanatic.com/cheap-dirt-bikes.HTML

And can police pull you over for driving on a gravel road, with a dirt bike?
I herd it can go over 100mph!
odds are if the valve is stuck open it is either bent(from over rev/valve float), or siezed in the guide(over heating). no easy fix sry
Yes, the only bike my parents bought me was 50cc when I was five and I'm 17 now and have 5 bikes over the years. So, yes it is legal, but if you do don't be jerk and take advantage of the kid.
Dirt bike gear is very expensive equipment. The average dirt bike suit can cost anywhere from 500 to 1000 dollars.
You may want to know if you can ride your dirt bike on a sidewalk. Anyone that has one ask police first. Then make sure no ones on the sidewalk then maybe you can. You can be asking if you have permission to ride a dirt bike on the side walk, or if the dirt bike will function right on the sidewalk. Like the above comment you have to ask a cop and not ride when to much people are there. The bike will function right but might jump high if you go over a bump.
