firstly , remove the speedo cable unit located on your front wheel , there is a bit involved in this , you've got to remove the wheel and axle , if you get that done (sounds more complicated than it is and it's always good to have some one help , two memories are better than one ) once you remove the unit , undo the small retaining screw , then remove the cable , if you have a cordless drill , insert the metal end of the cable into the drill and lock in , run your drill and check the speedo , if there is no movement , your cable is either boken or is not connected to the back of your speedometer . other option is to remove your front fairing and check the rear of the speedometer, a great DVD is available called "FIX MY HOG" this gives a step by step video of how this is done , it also has other problem solving instructions . hope this helps . cheers Yogi

Where is the speedometer sensor on a 1999 harley heritage classic?

On a 1999 Harley Heritage Classic, the speedometer sensor is located on the transmission. Specifically, it is mounted on the left side of the transmission housing, where it detects the rotation of the speedometer drive gear. This sensor sends signals to the speedometer to display the motorcycle's speed accurately. If you're having issues with the speedometer, checking this sensor and its connections is a good starting point.
