To change the starter on a Yamaha Kodiak, first disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Remove the starter motor by unscrewing the mounting bolts and disconnecting the electrical connections. Install the new starter by reversing the process: connect the electrical terminals and secure the starter with the bolts. Finally, reconnect the battery and test the new starter to ensure it's functioning properly.

40mph
The starter is held on with 2 bolts. To get to it you take off the exhaust manifold, or pull the engine out of the hull.
Begin with disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter in place and also unfasten and remove the starter motor cable. The starter is easily pulled out.
