Remove the dipstick from the oil fill cap, wipe it clean, then reinsert it without screwing it in to get an accurate reading. Pull the dipstick out again to check the oil level; it should be between the upper and lower marks. If the oil level is low, add the appropriate type of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
