I just saw this in a Goldwing Repair book at the dealer. First look at the headlight adjustment knob inside the faring. Twist it until you see a retaining screw. Remove the screw and then remove the knob. There should be a nut around the main headlight shaft that you can remove, which will then allow you to slide the entire headlight assembly out through the front of the fairing. Once the whole assembly is out, remove the retaining ring and disassemble the light housing. Reverse the process to reassemble.
Good luck!
Remove the lower ( part of the fairing ) on the left side, ( clutch side ) its in there.
Remove the right hand pocket on the fairing ( hand brake side ) it's in there.
How would you change the headlight bulb in a 1987 Honda goldwing? GL1200
To change the high beam headlight on a 2008 Honda Goldwing you first have to remove the headlight housing by taking the six bolts off. After you remove the cover it is as simple as disconnecting the wiring and then pulling the light out.
Most all motorcycle have the vin number on the steering head (that is located behind the headlight or fairing. If it has a fairing it will be hard to see. If the frame is the original there should be a sticker or tag located there on one side with the numbers on it and stamped on the frame on the other side. All HONDA goldwings model are located there..
I know how to replace the plugs, but what do you have to take off on the fairing to get to the plugs. Thanks steve
The standard comes with no extra equipment, fairing or side bags. The interstate is a full dress right from Honda.
On the Interstate you have to loosen a set screw on the headlight adjustment knob (between the speedometer and the fairing) Remove the knob then the 17mm. nut holding the bulb assembly in. The entire unit will then come out from the front of the bike. replace the bulb (H4 type) reinstall, the unit tighten the nut, replace the adjustment knob, tighten the set screw. It should only take you 5 or 10 minutes tops. GOOD LUCK!
