This is a question that may have a minimum of two different answers...depending on the reason for your question.

By that, I mean that there are at least two major categories of motorcycles, in Canada, and everywhere else: those that are licensed for travel on public highways.....and those that are used strictly off-road. Above and beyond that, a third category, motorcycles that were once licensed for the road but now sit abandoned in garages or backyards, may number in the thousands.

In Canada, motorcycle sales have quadrupled in the last decade - from 24,000 in 1996 to over 82,000 in 2006. This does not indicate what the accumulated number of motorcycles might be.....but it gives a pretty good indication......IF you wanna do the math!
