I've read that it IS quite a good motorcycle for a beginner, and it seems to have several specific features making it so, which I will describe. Yet first, it might be best to realize that some beginners, being perhaps very young and small (or female or maybe older and not too too big or too strong), might want an even smaller bike than this 250. Smaller than this , so that they won't have too much weight , speed or power to contend with--again if they're not too strong, or just beginning and wanting to take it easy. Even scooters might be best for the very cautious to learn on; myself I learned many years ago on a Honda 90 cc, and its size did I think, make me much safer then.

The reasons this suzuki 250 might be good, as a RATHER small but not tiny leaning machine, have to do with mainly three things:

1. 250 is modest in power and fairly modest in speed, except maybe for going downhill where I think it could easily reach 85 or so--which a beginner maybe should stay away from unless it's on a divided highway (even then it might lead to an expensive ticket for speeding).

2. It weighs "only" about upper two hundreds of pounds--I think it was about 280 or 285 or so. Relatively easy to handle, compared to fuller sized or even big bikes which are apt to be hundreds more than that.

3. One design feature IN PARTICULAR which should make it as easy as possible for its size, to balance, steer, hold up when stopped (straddle while stopped) is that it is built LOW SLUNG, even to the point of being called "Chopper style." This reportedly helps greatly in keeping balance, turning in tight quarters, etc (such as on the road license test!).

Even as somewhat of a veteran rider, I'm seriously considering trying to get one (or a similar Suzuki or even other make if they have a similar style bike in about this size).!

If anybody knows more about this or similar makes of 250 Suzuki road bikes, it'd probably help some of us if you'd quickly share what you know, thanks.
