Usually the recommended grade of oil is stamped on the oil fill cap, but it is similar to automobile oil. I use a 5w30 oil in my Suzuki.
There are two types of oil that are recommended to be used in a 4 stroke dirt bike. It is recommended that you use motorcycle transmission/gear oil in the transmission side and usually 10W-40 motorcycle oil in the other side. Some people, use 10W-40 in the transmission, but I don't do this and the factories do not recommend it.
No you can't used 10W-40 in the Trans either the transmission oil or you could go with Mobile 1 synthetic
The 1100 has what is refered to as a wet clutch. The same oil that is used for the motor oil is used for the transmission. Because of this it is very important to use oil that is labeled "Wet Clutch Compatable". You can get this through your Honda dealer or motorcycle shop.
Usually it's called transmission oil. For example I use red line transmission oil in both my motorcycles(Harley,Ducati)
i dont no
Automotive oil is formulated as a engine crankcase oil and Motorcycle oil is formulated three jobs a crankcase oil, a transmission-gear oil, and a wet clutch oil.
On a 400ex the engine and transmission share the same oil. So when you change the oil in the engine you are changing the transmission oil as well. That is why you need an ATV or motorcycle oil designed for wet clutches.
750 ml.
i use 10w40 auto oil
The transmission oil is the engine oil it also has a liquid clutch (same oil). If you have a drive shaft you should change it's oil as well but with gear oil. hope this helps
The transmission and the engine use the same oil. Ensure that your engine oil is full, and the tranny will be fine. Use Casrtrol 10w40. Dont waste money on 'motorcycle' oil. It makes no difference and only cost you a lot more. The rear end gets 80/90 weight gear oil.
almost all motorcycles use a common reservoir for the engine, transmission and even the clutch, so they all use engine oil.
