The 140 is a perfect choice. Once you have some experience and if you decide to race you can consider a different bike later.

I would have to say a 125cc. I am 15 6 2' 161 lbs and i can handle it with ease
look at the KX 100 its a in between size, I started on a 80, then moved to the 100.

O if you think that they can handle a 125 you could go with that its a little bigger and more powerful, but they will be able to ride it for years to come.

It all depends on the height of your legs and what speeds you can handle

To detmine what bike your feet should touch the ground

Also if it is your first bike get a 4 stroke b/c 2 strokes are race bikes and are hard to control

well it depends on the weight and height or the kid but a yz85 or a cr85 would be good.
Depends what the bike will be used for. For racing purposes, an 85cc two-sroke ie. Yamaha YZ85 would be pretty good or possibly the MX version of the CRF 150 (races in the 85 class) if you're budget isn't very limited. If the bike will be used for trail riding, look up a Yamaha TTR 125 or the Honda CRFs of similar engine size.

Should a 9 year old have a dirt bike?

Whether a 9-year-old should have a dirt bike depends on several factors: **Maturity and Responsibility:** The child should be mature enough to understand and follow safety rules and guidelines. **Supervision:** There should always be adequate adult supervision when the child is riding the dirt bike. **Training:** The child should receive proper training on how to safely operate the dirt bike. **Size and Power of the Bike:** The bike should be appropriately sized for the child, with manageable power. Many manufacturers produce dirt bikes specifically designed for younger riders. **Safety Gear:** The child should always wear appropriate safety gear, including a helmet, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. **Riding Environment:** The riding environment should be safe and appropriate for a young rider, avoiding busy roads and hazardous terrain. With these considerations in place, riding a dirt bike can be a fun and rewarding experience for a 9-year-old.
