MTD log splitters typically use either a gas-powered engine or an electric motor, depending on the model. The gas engines are often small, four-stroke engines, commonly in the range of 5 to 10 horsepower, providing the necessary power for splitting logs efficiently. Electric models, on the other hand, use a high-torque electric motor suitable for lighter, less demanding tasks. Always refer to the specific model's specifications for precise engine details.
You may want to check the underside of the beam, they sometimes put them there.
I havea Yard Machine Log Splitter, Model550 with a Briggsand Straatton 5.f hp engine that Icannot find any moel numbers or serial numbers. All i have found is the number x226700. The numbers on the log splitter itself were 24aa550c000 wich I believe the 550 in this sequence means this may be the engine seriel number. The other number is 1j018c80050 that i believe to be the serial number for the log splitter. I need a carburetor for this engine. Please help.
Your best bet is to just just buy a new tire & rim combo rather then trying to replace the rim only. The amount of work and cost wouldn't be worth it.
the owners manuel has numbers from12c700 thru129800. there is a number on the choke shroud that reads x226700. I was told that is no good. The logsplitter serial number i believe is1j018c80050. Log splitter number 550. Maybe it is a 5.5 horse.
What is the model number of the engine. If this is a newer engine and it is a overhead valve engine, normally the number is pressed in on the valve cover, kinda hard to see. Sometimes it is located on the exhaust debris guard, will be about a 20 digit number. Several of the newer style engines actually have the drain located at the bottom of the dipstick tube.
