The original issue was related to the new digital speedo and light on the handlebars. It would draw juice from the battery to maintain information and would eventually run the battery down. Honda provided a fix for this promptly. I had the fix done and still ride it on a regular basis. I have only replaced my battery once since '99 so I'm having very good luck with the fix.
