On a 1998 Polaris Sportsman ATV, the dipstick is typically located on the right side of the engine, near the rear. It is attached to the oil reservoir and can be identified by a small loop or handle for easy removal. To check the oil level, simply pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it without screwing it in, and then remove it again to check the level. Always ensure the ATV is on a level surface when checking the oil.
