buy a pump and drain tank only, do not run dry if it's fuel injection
The 96 series Harley Davidson engines use a twin-gerotor oil pump, instead of the external pump of the other EVO engines. This makes replacing the pump more difficult, requiring professional assistance or at least access to the printed service manual.

You should be able to obtain the oil pump installation instructions from the auto-parts store in which you bought the oil pump. The installation instructions can be found at most Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealerships.
On a 1999 Harley-Davidson Road King, the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. To access it, you typically need to remove the seat and the fuel tank. After draining the tank, you can remove the fuel pump assembly from the bottom of the tank for inspection or replacement. Always refer to the service manual for specific instructions and safety precautions.
oil supply to and return from the engine; Oil is normally gravity fed to pump then pumped to engine topend and crankshaft etc then is returned to the sump or oil bag(tank) via the return gears of the pump
If you look at the pushrod side of the motor, the breather screen is located just above the oil pump. There is a large screw/bolt. DO NOT take the one off the oil pump.
i suggest using ONLY a bicycle pump. Never any other kind of pressure and onlly 6 lbs. More will blow them out.
Engine keeps cutting out. I turn the key off, then turn it back on in about 30 seconds and engine starts easily. but will continue to stop after only a few miles.
To change the brake pads on a 1999 Harley Davidson Fatboy, first, elevate the motorcycle securely using a stand. Remove the caliper by loosening the mounting bolts, then slide it off the rotor. Take out the old brake pads and replace them with new ones, ensuring they are properly seated. Reattach the caliper, tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications, and pump the brake lever to seat the pads before riding.
