You should be able to obtain the oil pump installation instructions from the auto-parts store in which you bought the oil pump. The installation instructions can be found at most Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealerships.

The 96 series Harley Davidson engines use a twin-gerotor oil pump, instead of the external pump of the other EVO engines. This makes replacing the pump more difficult, requiring professional assistance or at least access to the printed service manual.
In the right front passenger footwell , by the kick panel
If you look at the pushrod side of the motor, the breather screen is located just above the oil pump. There is a large screw/bolt. DO NOT take the one off the oil pump.
Won't GO in gear - check fluids Won't go INTO gear - Trans linkage loose or broken. Worse - trans pump or pump shaft is broken . Won't come out of park - check the brake light fuse, it may be blown.
when your motorcycle leaks gas
i suggest using ONLY a bicycle pump. Never any other kind of pressure and onlly 6 lbs. More will blow them out.
Engine keeps cutting out. I turn the key off, then turn it back on in about 30 seconds and engine starts easily. but will continue to stop after only a few miles.
