At least for my 83 V65 the fuel pump rests directly beneath the seat and above the pivot for the rear swing arm. Access it from the top, remove the two bolts on either side from the top, disconnect the power, turn off the fuel petcock, and disconnect fuel lines to remove the pump.
Bad fuel pump diaphragm or excessive cranking with out starting . If it's alot look at fuel pump .

Which fuel pump? There are two fuel pumps on it. One is one the gas tank. Which you have to drop the gas tank and get to it. And the other one is bolted to the frame right under the drivers side door.
