I am assuming that the mower doesn't start.... My first guess would be that you are not getting spark to ignite the gas in the engine. Check to see if you have spark at the spark plug.
On a Kohler engine there is usually a drian plug on the left side of the engine (drivers side) near the rear of the engine. It is right in front of the oil filter. The oil filter base has a small plug in it that you will need to remove also to drain the filter base after you remove the oil filter.
