Ok simply put it no they're not. The Silvia is very different mechanically speaking than the 240sx that was sold in the US. You can bring cars into states like Florida and get them registered, but no matter what you do it will still be illegal to the federal government. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/impo… That is straight from the US government telling you every car that can be imported into the US from other countries besides Canada. I don't know where people think you can just import any car and then switch the steering column and it will be legal. Think about it. The US is a super bureaucratic country. Do you really think that they will just let any old car into the country? What people don't know is US and Canada have the highest safety standards for cars in the world. For example, if you bought a 2009 Nissan Altima sold in the US and compared it to a 2009 Altima sold in any country besides Canada, you would find there a lots of differences. From giant things like the exhaust system, and pillars right down to the tiniest of things like the windshield frame, and side mirrors. If you do it you more than likely won't get caught, but if the federal government catches you then they will either export or crush your car and possibly fine you. Also if you're ever in an accident with your car, you're screwed. It doesn't even matter if it's not your fault. Your insurance company will not only drop your service (also possibly sue you for insurance fraud), but the other drivers insurance will refuse to pay for your car, and might try to argue in court that because your vehicle isn't up to US standards your car caused more damage to the other person's car and you should pay.
