i had 2 do this question and it is hard! New Hampshire (#2) and Idaho (#1) have the two shortest land borders with Canada of any U.S. states. However, it is important to distinguish land borders from maritime borders, which can count as political boundaries. Pennsylvania has the shortest border with Canada if one counts its maritime border with Canada via Lake Erie.
There are THREE : Maine, New Hampshire, and New York.
HOWEVER, only New York actually borders the Atlantic, as the Maine and New Hampshire coasts are on the ocean arm called the Gulf of Maine.
There is more than two states that border or touch Canada. The states are Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Ohio and Pennsylvania also border Canada by the Great Lakes to the the north of the of those particular states.
