What is the relationship between multiplexing and modulation?

Modulation is the way a source of information transmits that information through a carrier. For example, look at human speech. A person, the source of information, transmits data by modulating the air with sound waves in a way that is understandable to other humans. In this case the air is the carrier. Multiplexing is when many slower data lines (CAT5, POTS, etc.) are combined into a single faster data line (T1, Optical Fiber). An example is the communications backbone between two cities. A fast, high bandwidth optical line joins the cities together, but when it reaches either city's limits, it is split up into many individual phone or data circuits. The bottom line is that modulation is how a source manipulates the carrier where as multiplexing is combining multiple circuits into a single, faster line and then separating them again.

What is mean by orthogonal frequency code division multiplexing in wireless communication?

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing is special case of frequency division multiplexing where a ling serial data streams are divided into parallel data streams and each data stream is multiplied either by orthogonal frequency or code. when multiplied by code known as frequency code division multiplexing and when multiplied by orthogonal frequency then know as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing

Why broadband are used in frequency division multiplexing?

Frequency division multiplexing is when a communication medium divides its frequency in order to carry a number of different signals at once. Broadband DSL uses this to transport large amounts of data quickly.

What is the advantages of multiplexing?

Because, the higher the data rate, the more cost effective the transmission facility. That is, for a given application and over a given distance, the cost per kbps decline with an increase in the data rate of the transmission facility.

Which happen first the modulation or the multiplexing?

A terminal may transmit several application, at a time. All such data of that terminal is multiplexed, and this multiplexed signal is modulated onto a carrier.

What are analog multiplexing techniques?

In telecommunications and computer networks, multiplexing(known as muxing) is a term used to refer to a process where multiple analog message signals or digital data streams are combined into one signal over a shared medium. The aim is to share an expensive resource. For example, in telecommunications, several phone calls may be transferred using one wire. The multiplexed signal is transmitted over a communication channel, which may be a physical transmission medium. The multiplexing divides the capacity of the low-level communication channel into several higher-level logical channels, one for each message signal or data stream to be transferred. A reverse process, known as demultiplexing, can extract the original channels on the receiver side. A device that performs the multiplexing is called a multiplexer (MUX), and a device that performs the reverse process is called a demultiplexer (DEMUX). Inverse multiplexing (IMUX) has the opposite aim as multiplexing, namely to break one data stream into several streams, transfer them simultaneously over several communication channels, and recreate the original data stream.
