Darth Vader is actually Anakin Skywalker from the prequel films and he had Luke (and Leia) with Padme Amidala. As Anakin became Darth Vader, Padme died during delivery and Obi-wan took Luke with him to Tatooine where he was raised by his aunt and uncle. Leia was adopted by the Organa family who ruled Alderaan.
