Jewish AnswerNo. They are completely different: a different basic belief, different language, completely different prayers, festivals, fasts, charities etc. Whatever things are shared is what Christianity borrowed from Judaism; though these too have in many cases taken on a different character and are observed differently. Answer 2They are basically the same as worship same God; the Creator; have same religious morals, and have same ritual worships; praying, fasting, alms giving, ...; although practiced differently

Answer 3

No. They have fundamentally different theology. Judaism is based on the idea that God has provided man a code of conduct with numerous rules and provisions on how to behave, pray, and celebrate life, both in the affirmative and negative. Christianity is based on the idea that God Himself chose to save humanity and that this action should be revered with incredible faith and servitude. No more distant comparison could be drawn.

Many of the fundamental tenets of Christianity violate or disagree with Jewish teachings such as: the Trinity, the Sacrifice upon the Cross (including the Eucharist, Vicarious Atonement, connecting the Messianic Purpose to a Sacrifice, etc.), , the Second Coming of the Messiah, Orthodoxos over Orthopraxis, Priests as Divine Intercessors, Organization of Bishoprics and Dioceses, God's primary attribute is Love instead of Justice and Mercy, Original Sin, Lucifer's Rebellion and Hell, Kingdom of God in Heaven, and many others.

Christianity chastizes the Jewish Law saying that it is incapable of being followed and was given to demonstrate humans' inability to redeem themselves. It was for this purpose that Jesus Christ was sent to man, to redeem him from the law. From the Christian perspective, Jewish focus on the law is misplaced since God cares little for the minutiae of a person's actions, but on the content of his character and how he treats his fellow man. These things are achieved through faith in Christ and expressing love the way that Christ expressed love. Judaism would respond that following the minutiae of the law is exactly what elevates the content of the Jew's character and how he treats his fellow man.

Judaism and Islam are far more similar as religions than Judaism and Christianity.

Christian Answer:

Judaism is a faith that believes that a messiah will be sent by God as written in the Jewish texts.

Christians believe that the messiah WAS sent by God, as God promised in the Jewish texts and that the messiah was Jesus Christ.

  1. Judaism and Christianity both are monotheistic religions
  2. Judaism and Christianity both acknowledge that Moses was a prophet of God
  3. Judaism and Christianity both read from the "old testaments" of The Bible
  4. Judaism and Christianity both hold Jerusalem as the holy city

Jewish Answer:

No, there is very little similarity between the two faiths. The previous answer shows ignorance about the huge variation of beliefs within Judaism (for example: the majority of Jews do notbelieve a messiah will be sent by God; this belief is only held by the Orthodox and some Conservative Jews, which are a minority within the Jewish population.)

  1. Judaism and Christianity both are monotheistic religions, but Jews believe God is a unity, and most Christians believe God is a trinity; Christians also believe in an evil being that opposes God, called Satan.
  2. Judaism and Christianity both acknowledge all of the same Hebrew prophets
  3. Judaism and Christianity both read from the Hebrew Bible, but Christians call it "The Old Testament" and only read it in translation, in a different order than it was originally canonized.
  4. Judaism and Christianity both hold Jerusalem as the holy city, but for vastly different reasons

Additional Answer:

Christianity was founded in 30 CE and Judaism was founded in 1300 BCE.

Christianity was founded by Jesus, Peter, and Paul, and Judaism was founded by Moses and Abraham.

The major branches of Christianity are Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant, and the major branches of Judaism are Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform.

And lots of others.

Yes, to a limited degree, since Christianity borrowed heavily from Judaism. For example, Christianity accepts the Hebrew Bible.See also:
