Are horror movies ok for christians?

Of course! You can watch whatever you want. GOD the creator of all give us free will. He does not make us robots. However, consider this, " As a man thinks so is he"

What ever you take in, can easily come out. Your flesh is amused and intrigued by movies like Horror movies because your flesh is weak. Your SOUL has freedom of choice. Your spirit is always willing to please GOD. Ask your self this question before you watch any movie. Should I feed my SPIRIT or should I feed my FLESH it is up to your SOUL to decide.

The technological development of "motion pictures" wasn't extant when the various "inspired authors" of The Bible wrote their books. Even with John's visions of the "last days" that he recorded in Revelation, he was only able to describe in terms and comparisons of things about which he was familiar. Yet, some of the things John describes remain unpleasant for many people to entertain in their mind.

As a form of "entertainment," however, that motion pictures have become, and our society has come to accept... our Creator cannot approve of man's use of the motion picture industry in general without even specifying the "horror" genre that literally celebrates the expectation and anticipation of wickedly imaginative ways to multilate the human body and spill copious amounts of blood [the life {soul} of all flesh - Lev.17:14].

God created life... and takes no pleasure in the taking of it.

And for men to dream up prurient and gratuitously violent and satanic ways to mutilate and dismember the human body for the monetary sake of "public entertainment" whereby to occupy the precious human mind, is purely of Satan... and utterly disgusting and abominable to God.

Satan has greatly influenced the motion picture industry through his deceptive, perverse and negative influence over men's minds... and the "horror" genre is only one small area of it.

The specific subject of "horror movies" isn't addressed in the Bible -- but the wicked spirit that spawned it... the vile mind and heart of man's god, whom he chose for his children to worship in the beginning is:

"And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." (Gen.6:5)

That is the heart and core of "horror movie."

That's how man's heart was in "Noah's day" - of the horror movie mentality.

And except for most of man's subsequent societies over the generations keeping that wickedness "in the closet"... man's heart hasn't changed since then. In fact... the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ will return when man's society deteriorates again to the public acceptance of man's continuous wicked thoughts and imaginings.

"For as the days of Noe were, SO SHALL THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE." (Matt.24:37)

God hates the "horror movie" mentality so much that He brought the flood upon the earth. And prophecy states that Jesus Christ will be the next "flood" to take away the wicked from off the earth. A "flood" of "fire."

"...the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and the earth, WHICH ARE NOW, by the same Word ARE KEPT IN STORE, reserved UNTO FIREagainst the Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men." (II Peter.3:6-7)

"For our God is a consuming fire." (Heb.12:29)

The Bible doesn't speak to the "horror movie," specifically... but it does speak specifically to the "spirit" that has brought about its modern latter day development. It's a wicked spirit that's been around since the days of Noah. A wicked spirit against which God has been warning man from the beginning.

"...of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, thou shalt not eat of it..." (Gen. 2:17).

A simple New Testament perspective:The Bible says nothing about "horror movies," but this is what Jesus said about what we choose to look at:

Matthew 6:22, 23 - "The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" [NKJV: parallel passage at Luke 11:34.]

Jesus is saying that what we see (especially what we specifically choose to look upon) has a profound inner influence. Good things "lighten" our spirits; bad things "darken" them. The application of the teaching to such things as "horror movies" is obvious.
