There is only one Desert listed in Italy, however it is what they call a semi-desert. It is a semi-arrid region near Tuscany called the Accona Desert (Deserto di Accona). It is characterized by calanques and dome-shaped formations locally known as biancane, which is derived from the Italian bianco, white, due to their light shade.

The Accona Desert is home to medieval abby of Monte Oliveto Maggiore.

The Accona Desert is a semi-arid region in Tuscany, Italy. Average annual rainfall is less than 600mm, so it does not quite qualify for the term "desert", which applies to areas where average annual precipitation is less than 250mm.

Piscinas' Desert is a small sandy desert of a mere 5 square kilometres. It is located in Sardinia and, though small, is regarded as one of the biggest deserts of Western Europe.
