I think empoleon is the best when it comes to starters in platinum because he has a great defense and a really high special attack. Other then that, Giratina is the best of platinum, especially in the origin form, with the right moves he can destroy anything.

It's a matter of opinion. Arceus is commonly called the strongest Pokemon, but other Pokemon such as mewtwo can have over 400 sp.attack, so it depends on who your asking, I would say Arceus, but it's all a matter of opinion.
