Sec. 106.04. CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR. (a) A minor commits an offense if he consumes an alcoholic beverage.

(b) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the alcoholic beverage was consumed in the visible presence of the minor's adult parent, guardian, or spouse.

(c) An offense under this section is punishable as provided by Section 106.071.

Adults and minors who give alcohol to a minor also face a stiff penalty. The punishment for making alcoholic beverages available to a minor is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $4,000, confinement in jail for up to a year, or both. Well, I am from Georgia, and i always drank with my parents. And one day i even drank with my father's friend who was a police officer and Happened(!) to be on duty. and There was no tension between any of us. and i am only sixteen. So the answer to the question is HELL YES!

Considering research show teens who drinks with their parents end up drinking more later in life, no. If drinking beer for instance every weekend (one evening) it only takes one year for a 16yo boy to become a alcoholic. For a 16yo girl, it takes 6 months.
