The laws on this vary by state. Judges usually have a broad range of discretion to do what is in the best interests of the child. I have heard of it being done before.
AnswerThere are numerous factors to be considered. First has the biological father established paternity? If so, is there a court order addressing the issue of visitation and/or custody rights? Is the father paying court ordered child support? If most of these do not apply, the father does not have the right to make any type of request concerning the child. The most important of these issues would be the existence of a joint custody order. Judges base decisions on the amount of involvement a parent has in a child's life. Any parent who does financially support and is not actively involved in the child's life will not be looked on favorably by the court. If she moves out of state with the child and it isn't in the divorce papers she can get arrested.
No but your mother can. The child support goes to her and not you.
Paying child support will not cause the father to lose his parental rights - neither will not paying child support.
Yes, see link
well, if your asking what you could do, then you could probably take her to court for custody of the child.
This depends on a couple of things, the state you are in and what your court order says. If the child is living full time with one parent it is the other parent who pays child support. However, if the child is living with the father for the summer (summer possession) the father will still continue to pay the mother child support even though the child temporarily is living with the father. The reason for this is the mother still has bills that are keeping the house and such for the child to come back too. The only way a father will not have to pay is if the court order says that during summer possession the father does not have to pay child support, but normally in this case the mother would not be obligated to pay child support to the father. However in the end, people should do what is best for the children and not worry about the dollars they receive or don't receive.
The father has to have the court's consent to cease paying child support.

no
The father does, since the mother is paying her share towards the children in the form of child support.
You can sign your rights away but you will still have to pay child support if you are the father or mother of the child. There is no way to avoid paying child support.
yes But, was the mother paying?
The father is responsible for paying at least the state mandated minimum in support regardless of what type of income or assistance the mother has. That is considered her portion of support, child support is yours.

With approval of the court.
No, but your mother can as long as she filed a petition for child support and he did not pay.Child support goes to the parent to use for the child's expenses, and not paid directly to the child.
The order goes to child support enforcement to persecute.
