A PS3 has WiFi and you can put the router next to your modem. The only thing the back of a PS3 uses for the internet is for a wired connection with an ethernet cable to your router or modem instead of a WiFi connection
no u must use an ethernet cable or wireless internet For most people who do not have a wireless connection in their home they must also purchase at least a router to allow a connection between the cable modem and the PS3. An ethernet cable allows a wired connection between the PS3 and the router and if running a cable is a problem you need to purchase a wireless router. Although I purchased a wireless router I found that the wired connection worked better and the wireless router also had four wired connection spots on the back.
You have to have a router to connect more than 1 item with Comcast Internet unless you also got the wireless router from Comcast. You can either go out and purchase a router either wireless, both, or Ethernet. I purchased a wireless router and then decided I liked the wired system better and purchased an Ethernet cable to hook up the PlayStation 3 because I saw that the router also had 4 Ethernet plugs in back. So you still need to purchase a router even though you have Internet access with Comcast.
A standard ethernet cable.
This question can be understood with more than one meaning. One meaning is that of a user that desires to connect an access point to retransmit internet from their cable modem to extend the bandwidth provided by their Cable ISP wireless to one or more users. For this, one must first check the acceptable use policy of the company which is providing the cable router. The hookup is quite straightforward. Setup the cable modem to deliver a static IP to the wireless router. Let the wireless router reassign IPs to the end users. If servers are to be parked behind the wireless router, then more engineering is required, which will not be covered here in this response. (Please ask another question regarding configuring servers behind cable modems.)There are wireless router / gateway devices that you can hool up to a cable modem to provide auto failoever and auto failback during cable internet outages. One such device is the Nexus Hawk www.nexushawk.com. This wireless router device is inserted between the cable modem and the user network. The wireless router then provides internet access during intermitent outages. There are a few such products advertising this feature, but to date I have only seen the Nexus Hawk in use. I invite others to write of other products they have seen working in the field. If the wireless router is like mine then you also can make an ethernet connection with the PS3 using an ethernet cable
Yes, a modem connected via an Ethernet cable can provide internet access to a wireless PC, but it typically needs to be connected to a router first. The modem connects to the router through the Ethernet cable, and the router then broadcasts a wireless signal that the PC can connect to. If the modem has built-in routing capabilities, it can directly support wireless connections without a separate router.
Your router WILL need to be wireless to connect wirelessly to your Xbox, but you can use an ethernet cable if your router is not wireless, straight from the router to the XBOX
no...but a modem with a built-in wireless router would.
The PS3 does not have a router. It can go online with an ethernet cable connected to a router or modem or with WiFi from a wireless router or modem
You have two basic options. 1.You can connect your laptop to your cable, fibre optic, or DSL modem or Ethernet port using an Ethernet cord. 2. You can connect your cable, fibre optic, or DSL modem or Ethernet port to a wireless router using a Ethernet cable. You then connect your laptop using wireless to your wireless router.
Use an ethernet cable and plug that in from your modem or a router then into your xbox 360
The Wireless internet router is connected to your cable modem with an ethernet cable and most wireless routers also have the ability to also have wired connections along with the WiFi or wireless connections. The ethernet ports on the router are marked so you know which one to connect to the modem

You need a Wireless adapter, or a ethernet cable connecting to your home router.
If you have a wireless router no. otherwise you need a ethernet cable.
connect the cable modem to PC using the usb port, leaving you the ethernet porton on the cable modem to connect to the wireless router.
