∙ 14y agoNo, an underage child with autism cannot stay home alone in the state of Florida.
It doesn't matter whether the child is autistic or not, if they are underage then they cannot stay home alone. Leaving the child alone would be illegal and they may get into trouble while alone.

There are currently no laws in Florida that govern how old a child has to be to be left home alone. It is essentially up to the parents to decide if their child is ready for it.
It is against Florida state law for an 11 year old to be left home alone with a sibling. A child must be 12 before they can stay home alone and 15 before the are permitted to babysit.

There is no law in Florida about being left alone. If the child feels safe and has the ability to take care of themselves, as well as handle any emergencies that might arise, they could be deemed to be okay. Most authorities don't feel that 13 is old enough to be left alone for the night.
