YES !... As i understand it all PS3's use software Emulation to play PS1 games and do not need any special hardware like PS2 games ,although it is theoretically possible to use the same method to play PS2 games on a PS3 but Sony have not done so either because PS3's are not fast enough to Emulate the PS2 at full speed or the PS3's software is using the resources that would be needed for it ! ( in other words Sony don't wanna!.. )
