The Blacks in SA and the Indians in the USA were both natives to their respective countries and both were subjected to a form of colonization by settlers.

Both fought wars against the settlers and both were overpowered and subjected to discrimination at the hands of these settlers.

In SA after the Nationalist party came into power and Apartheid legalized through legislation certain geographical areas were land marked for "independence" by certain tribes, for example, Transkei and Ciskei for the Xhosa people.

In America a large number of reservations were made available to the various Indian tribe natives, there are over 300 hundred, and they report into the Indian Affairs Dept of the USA government.

Both systems had some autonomy of their own but ultimately reported into the National Governments.

Both had tribal leadership authorities.

Today, both countries are democracies and all citizens are permitted to vote.

In America there are still reserves, in SA the homelands have been incorporated back into SA after the first democratic elections in 1994
