Greasers are almost like hoods; they steal things and drive old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations and have a gang fight once in a while, but not all greasers are like that. If Ponyboy's older brother Darry found out he did anything like that, he'd kill him.

The Greasers are poor and have little or no respect for the authority. They are also more emotional than the Socs and get into rumbles just for fun. The Socs are the Social Elites. They are cool to the point of not feeling anything at all. The Socs are snotty rich kids who throw beer blasts and mug people just for fun.

Socs usually go to The Way Out or to Rusty's, and greasers go to the Dingo or to Jay's. The Dingo is a rougher hangout than the Jay's. All of these are drive-ins. Most often, Socs stay on the west side and greasers stay on the East side, as to not trespass into each others territories.
