Canada's war effort was funded by victory bonds. Canadians invested in these bonds to support the soldiers, then they would receive the original money invested in the bonds and however much interest was collected over the period of time when the war was won.

The Canadian Government also introduced income tax, which was originally intended for a temporary purpose. Financially stable individuals and families paid 3% income tax on their income. Businesses paid a 4% tax on their business profits.

Canada also borrowed huge sums of money from other countries.

Despite all of the money being poured into war efforts Canada was in national debt by almost $2 billion during the war.
