Yes, Jacob does get hurt. There is one newborn vampire that the Cullens missed that Leah goes for after the vampire surprise attacks her. Jacob launches himself between the newborn and Leah, and breaks numerous bones in his body.
In "New Moon" Jacob explains to Bella how Emily got hurt and she got hurt because Sam was angry and he was standing to close and then he transformed into a werewolf in front of Emily and he hit her in the face by accident.
Jacob told Bella to leave and never come back in New Moon because he had turned into a werewolf and he didn't want Bella to get hurt if he got mad and changed to close to her. It's because of what happened with Sam and Emily. Sam got mad, Emily was standing to close, and her face was permanently scared for the rest of her life. So Jacob says to leave so that she doesn't get hurt if he got angry. :))
No. Bella and Jacob do not kiss before "Eclipse". In chapter 18 of "New Moon", Bella and Jacob are standing in her kitchen discussing how their friendship is suffering because of Bella's continuing love for the Cullens. After that, they stand there holding each other, and then Jacob begins to lean in to kiss her (which is interrupted by a phone call from Edward believing Bella is dead). The first kiss doesn't actually occur until chapter 15 of "Eclipse". Jacob declares his love for Bella and tells her that he wants her to choose him over Edward. She tells Jacob that Edward is her whole life, but then Jacob reminds her of when Edward left, and how Jacob was her rock and best friend. He tells her that he won't stop fighting for her, and then suddenly kisses her. After attempting to push him away, (to no avail), she becomes motionless and waits for him to stop. Once he finished, she rears back and punches him only to hurt herself.
Is it common, no. Probably depends on how and where they got hurt.
team edward!!!
Because the book is from bree's pov and she never saw it happen because in eclipse no one ever mentioned bree being around when Jacob got hurt so she never saw it happen, but carlisle has a line and he says "Please let me take a look. Please let me help" so my guess is he is probabley saying that to sam and the other wolves cuz Jacob is hurt and he wants to help so technically he was hurt at the same time as the events of bree tanner, bree just wasnt there also in the book bree says she hears agonized howling, and i think it's Jacob and she says she hears screaming which could be Jacob or the newborn that hurt him getting ripped up
I am 60% sure about this answer: No Jacob does not got into battle if your talking about the newborns vs. cullens and quileutes then yes he does
Yes he did by the newborns.

Yes, he ran away when he got Bella's wedding invitation in Eclipse. But is Breaking Dawn he comes back.
In the battle between the Cullens + Werewolfs and Victoria's new born army, the Vampires and Werewolfs split the numbers to kill. At the end of the battle, the wolves didn't count how many they killed and didn't realise that they missed one. Leah, a female wolf, found the missing new born and wanted to prove herself by killing it herself. Jacob managed to get Leah out of the way but had no time to defend himself. The rest of the wolves killed the newborn, but not before Jacob got hurt.
