No. He did not. It's very confusing. Alison has a twin sister who is crazy in the head named Courtney. Courtney took Ali's perfect life and for Ali to get back ali killed Courtney. The Pretty Little Liars never knew about Courtney so they thought Ali died but really, Courtney died. Confusing right?

Alison wants to kill the girls because Courtney (her twin sister) ends up switching places with Ali (by taking her A is for Ali ring) and Ali ends up goin to a Mental Hospital. So Alison tells the girls at the end of wanted that she was so upset about her sister takin over her life and choosin a bunch of nobodys as friends that she decided to kill Courtney and everyone else.

They didn't kill Alison. [SPOILER] "A" was actually Mona, but after Mona died, Ali became "A". The Ali that was friends with Spencer, Aria, Hanna, and Emily was really Ali's twin sister Courtney. Courtney was a crack case and she spent her life living in a hospital. Well when Courtney came home to visit, she took Ali's ring and made it look like Ali was really Courtney. So Ali went to the hospital and Courtney destroyed Ali's life. And then Ali came back and killed Courtney for ruining her life. And now Ali's out for the other "pretty little liars" to kill them for taking part on Courtney's plan.(:
