English businessmen first came to India in 1612 as the English East India Company in pursuit of the spice trade. Until the early 1700s, they competed with other European trading companies. With the decline of the Mughal Empire, English influence increased. British rule in India brought both benefits and drawbacks. On one hand, it introduced infrastructure development, such as railways and telecommunication, and promoted education and legal reforms. However, it also led to economic exploitation, widespread poverty, and famines exacerbated by colonial policies. The cultural imposition and political repression further harmed India's social fabric and autonomy.
Imitative entrepreneurs are crucial for India as they adapt and replicate successful business models to suit local markets, driving innovation and accessibility. They help bridge gaps in various sectors by introducing proven solutions, thus enhancing competition and quality of services. Furthermore, their efforts can stimulate job creation and economic growth, especially in underserved areas, contributing to overall socio-economic development. By building on existing ideas, imitative entrepreneurs also reduce risks associated with starting new ventures.
Economic reasons and those reasons only find out more when you type in did great Britain help or hurt India on GoogleBritain wanted more raw materials and they knew India had vast amounts. Britain wanted to trade cotton for spices from Indonesia but Britain didnt have cotton. So they took over India and got their cotton and raw materials for their industries. With British merchants in control of India's foreign trade and with the financing of this trade centered in London, a three-way exchange developed: the tea Britain bought in China was paid for by India's exports of opium and cotton to China. And because of a rapidly increasing demand for tea in England, British merchants actively fostered the profitable exports of opium and cotton from India. From Michael Parenti's book "Againts empire" we find he says: "The massive poverty we associate with India was not that country'soriginal historical condition. British imperialism did two things:first, it ended India's development, then it forcibly underdevelopedthat country."
