film must be developed (enlarge small frame on film to larger specialized paper copy) this requires chemistry and generally cannot be done at home (unless you have a dark room).

Digital cameras can be viewed with a computer without developing the picture and can be printed on normal paper from most printers in order to have a physical copy of the photo.

What is the difference between Digital Film Making and conventional film making?

Digital filmmaking versus Conventioanl filmmaking has become a heated debate ever since the former became popular in the '90s. Digital filmmaking has proven however to be the more effective, durable, high quality and efficient method, and this is proven by the shift of many filmmakers from traditional filmmaking. Digital filmmaking pertains to the use of digital captures in making movies, as opposed to traditional filmmaking which uses film. Digital captures may be stored on media such as flash memory, hard disks, and tape. Many Hollywood movies are now being shot either fully or partly digital. Film distributors are often at a disadvantage when determining the number of prints for a movie they are distributing. For example, making a few prints can mean the possibility that there would be not enough screens for showing the movie which is in demand. On the other hand, printing too many film prints can be wasteful especially for movies which are not exactly blockbusters.

What are some similarities between analog and digital cameras?

An analogue camera uses film but a digital camera does not. This area, equivalent to the eye's retina, is replaced by a silicon chip known as a Charged Coupled Device( CCD). Light enters via the lens and falls on to many tiny pixel elements etched on to the chip. Light is turned in to a tiny amount of electrical charge and each cell's content is sequentially moved across the chip like a line of buckets handed from one person to another until it reaches the edge of the chip. This 'Bucket Brigade Device' then stores the [pixel elements in the memory card for printing out.

Why do you see all Panavision cameras with tape all around them and on the sides....Can anybody explain this to you?

Adhesive "camera tape" - is typically placed around the joint between the body of the film magazine and the magazine cover to ensure that no light leaks in to ruin the film. Film magazines have excellent light traps, but on a multi-million dollar feature film it's best to be cautious. Magazines hold between 400 and 1000 feet of film, so a ruined roll can spoil many takes and a lot of shooting time. Also, it is normal procedure to put strips of camera tape over the latch or latches that open the film magazine to indicate that the mag is loaded. Other than that, strips of tape are placed on the camera body and magazine so the assistant can write down what filters are loaded and/or what type of film is in the mag so that every member of the camera department is able to get this information at a glance. The uses I've listed are standard operating procedure on any film set and are used on any make of camera, not just Panavision.

What is the difference between digital camera from old camera?

You need to expand your question a bit more. Are you asking about the differences between digital vs. film? That question is being answered in other threads. OR.... Are you asking if you can convert a film camera to digital? The answer to that is yes, sometimes. Personally I would not recommend it, just go buy a digital camera.

Can a film camera can convert to digital camera?

No. You cannot economically convert a film camera to a digital camera. The digital system is very different and fitting it to an existing film camera is more expensive than buying a new digital camera. Some of the more expensive professional cameras can change between film and digital backs replacing the film transport with digital technology. The replacement backing includes all the electronics and controls typical of a digital camera of that caliber.

What are the differences between digital and filmed camera?

A film camera records a photo onto a strip of film, which then needs to be taken to a photo clinic to be processed. The quality is about 25 megapixels. A digital camera records a photo onto a memory card, which can be reviewed on the camera's screen instantly, and you have the option of deleting or saving it. The quality can range from 8-12 megapixels, which is considerably lower than a film camera.

What is the difference between traditional photography and digital photography?

Traditional Photography records light from a camera on to film, digital records the light on to a light sensitive digital CCD that transferrs the image into data and records it as a digital file.

What purpose does the CCD in your digital camera perform?

The CCD is the part of the camera that changes the light that enters the camera into a digital signal that is then saved on the memory card. You can think of it as where the film would be in a regular 35mm film camera.
