The first time they kiss in the books happens in 'The Struggle'. In the Season 1 finale, Damon thought he kissed Elena but it turned out to be Katherine instead. Damon kisses Elena on the forehead, if you'd like to count that in episode 8. Also, Damon kissed Elena in the Return the first episode of season 2 he had just been rejected by Katherine she had just told him she never loved him and it was always Stefan. He came into Elena's bedroom it was basically a forced kiss. Something that is important to know is in the Return the first episode of season 2 Damon says to Elena he kissed her and thought she kissed him back this was when Katherine was pretending to be Elena and Damon kissed her.

According to all the new blogs and the TV Series Guide Book, Damon and Elena do have some romantic moments later in Series 2, but apparently that's not enough for Elena to break up with Stefan. In the current most recent season (season five) and a little before season four ends, the two end-up being together even after Elena's sire is cut-off from Damon. The two are in love as of right now, however, Elena does still think about Stefan but it's not clear at the moment if she's going to break up with Damon to go back out with Stefan, we'll have to wait to see later in season five (if anything happens about the relationship in this new season).

in the books vampires are incapable of feeling sexual desires. whenever they are attracted to someone they tend to exchange blood with this someone rather than make love. so until now (book 7) nothing happened between Elena/ Damon or Elena/ Stefan. however, as Elena was reincarnated, her new blood is with special powers that it is said to arise sexual desires in vampires. so i guess we will have to wait and see.

Season 1 Episode 10: Jeremy decides to return to his hobby of sketching fantasy creatures that he had stopped upon the death of his parents. Meanwhile, the vampire Logan attacks and kills several people throughout the town. Matt and Caroline continue to hang out together. He tells Tyler that he likes hanging out with Caroline. Sheriff Forbes tells Damon of a new recent attack, and he discovers Logan doesn't know who turned him. Alaric helps with a small dispute among Jeremy, Tyler and Mayor Lockwood. Logan kidnaps Caroline after a dispute with the sheriff, but Stefan and Damon save her. Logan tells Damon he knows of another way to resurrect Katherine.
