I am not sure exactly what the problem is. however the ps3 slims have a habit of overheating and if it has overheated , it may have damaged the console and resulted in undesired operation. some other reasons may be a faulty disk or the disk may be damaged or dirty.
A lot of the online sites say you need an adapter to use the fightsticks for the slims, I have the same issue trying to find one that works, it says they need a special usb adapter. That's all I know about them
