yes, there are two ports for two controllers on the slim.
The PS3 has the ability to have up to 7 controllers with wireless connection but it is the Games that decide the number of Players and whether you have to be online for the multiplayer to work. Most games only allow a single player to be online so you will not just be able to go online and then play two people on the same PlayStation 3
