Canada is a parliamentary democracy within a constitutional monarchy.

While some system of government include a president who acts as head of State, in Canada's system of constitutional monarchy, Her Majesty the Queen is Canada's head of State. The Queen is represented for most purposes by the Governor General of Canada (who is appointed by the Queen on the advice of the prime minister).

Although executive power is vested in the Queen (and thereby exercised by the Governor General), the use of executive power in Canada is done on the advice of the prime minister and other ministers who are responsible to the elected House of Commons. The prime minister acts as head of Government for Canada, and is accountable for Canada's political decisions and positions.

Different political system similar to that of Great Britain. We have a Prime Minister instead of a president. The PM is head of the party that wins the federal election. Usually he has a majority and can do what he wants if his own party agrees with it. This makes life easier for him, in some ways, because he seldom has to fight with the legislative bodies that make the laws. But he also has to show up to work in Parliament where the opposition parties will do their best to make him and the ruling party look stupid and incompetent. The US Pres can avoid this daily humiliation and also blame most of his failures on Congress and the Senate if the other party has a majority there.

Canada is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary (i.e., "Westminster") form of government. Unlike a congressional form of government with a president who is both head of state and head of government, Canada's head of state and head of government are two different people. Canada's head of state is the reigning monarch, usually represented in the person of the Governor General, and Canada's head of government is the prime minister.

Sort of. Many countries have both a President and a Prime Minister, with the President being the Head of State, and the Prime Minister being the Head of Government. Some countries, like the US, combine these two roles, making the President the Head of both State and Government.

In Canada, we keep these roles separate. Our Head of Government is the Prime Minister, and our Head of State is, formally, a Monarch: Queen Elizabeth II. However, virtually all the duties of the Head of State are performed by our Governor General, the Queen's federal viceroy.

So, in comparison to countries whose President is Head of Government, Canada has as Head of Government a Prime Minister instead of a President, and in comparison to countries where the President is Head of State, Canada has as Head of State a Monarch (represented by a Governor General) instead of a President.

If England has a queen US has a president Canada has a prime minister what do other countries have?

Queen Elizabeth II is also queen of Canada. A monarchy has a monarch (king or queen) and a republic has a president. In a Constitutional Monarchy, the monarch takes no part in the day to day running of the country and has a Prime Minister to fulfil that role.

There is no legislated term of office for the President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada; he or she serves at the pleasure of the prime minister. The Governor General of Canada (on the advice of the prime minister) may remove the President of the Privy Council at any time; also, he or she loses the presidency should the prime minister resign, pass away or be dismissed.
