Yes, but not seasonal flooding (like the Monsoon-type floods).

Flooding happens from time to time particularly in arid areas where some places are prone to "flash-floods". There are also floods associated with flooded river courses, where annual rains swell the rivers, in some cases the rain can be heavy enough to cause the river to overflow its banks.

The latter is of major concern where poor communities build their "temporary" housing in the river flood plain.
