Central Russia. because Russia has a continental climate.
Quebec, for example, is a huge state, but in the southern part of the state where the bulk of the population lives, the weather is pleasantly continental. Summers - June to August - are hot, which contrasts starkly with winters which are often very wet turning to cold and snowy. Central Quebec, meanwhile, enjoys colder winters and shorter cooler summers, while in the far north severe Arctic weather with a freezing winter and permafrost are the norm. Winter in south east Canada can be five months in the south to as long as eight months in the north, averaging between 14 and -13ºF (-10ºC and -25ºC). Today in Montreal, for example, the weather forecast is for light snow with temperatures as low as -14C and a windchill factor of -23C. In general, then, south eastern Canada enjoys a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and long, cold winters.
In South Africa, their winters are not quite as severe as northern United States, or other farther from the equator countries. Their winter may fall colder, but not as cold as you may think. If they where to fall in temperature, they could light a fire inside their home, or use animal skins to conserve body heat.

Central Russia is more a continental climate, more affected by cold wind from North Artic seas. Two regions that were almost always the opposite in every way were Russia and Africa. Russia has severe winters while most of Africa has a tropical climate.
Raccoons are not natives of Russia and are found naturally only in the Americas . Several attempts to introduce raccoons to Russia have been largely a failure. Much of Russia, it seems, is too cold to support the animal. Only a few populations have survived in a few less severe areas.
Humid mid-latitude climates
