Actually, he does. He "dies" to save Ichigo. Later in the last episode you see kisshu watching Ichigo from his ship or something.
Kisshu at first dies, then when Ichigo sacrafices herself (kind of) to save Massaya, the mew aqua particles go onto him and revive both him, masaya and pie. She lives to
