Yes but mine was damged afterwoods because the simple laser colaberation of the DVD dick damged the blu ray laser reader OS the playstation.
i recomend you just buy a blu ray disc or maybe just an DVD player
They have no problem playing CDs or DVDs and even upgrade them to near HD quality for HD PS3 systems. The above answer does not make any sense. Mine has no problem playing TV shows and Movies I burn off cable channels on my Media center computer and the picture is way better than on my Sony DVD/VCR player recorder.
