Become a Canadian citizen. Not trying to be crass here, it's just the option you're limited to. Unlike the UK, which allows citizens of all Commonwealth countries (and Ireland) join its military, such a policy doesn't exist with the Canadian Forces (technically, there is no Canadian Army - their entire military is a single branch). When I was in the Canadian Army 10 years ago, there were 5 branches. I have met a few Brits and an Australian who were members of the Canadian Forces. It was easier for them to do so because they were from Commonwealth countries so background check can be done. They still had to become Canadian citizens and have completed high school with College and or university as a definate asset. No criminal record either. For non-commonwealth people, you would have to have citizenship for at least 10 years, same education, no criminal record. And a lot of luck. I suspect, with the military and the world state being what it is, it would be even harder to get in if not impossible.
"yes, but only if you have a parent that was born in America and one born in Canada" This is not precisely, or necessarily true. It is possible for a Canadian to become a dual citizen if neither parent was born in the United States, but it depends on when they were born and where their parents were born. Canadians, since 1947, can hold multiple citizenships. It is a complex question. You are best advised to contact a United States embassy or consulate near you for more information. They will likely send you questionnaire to help you determine your status. In general though, it is not possible for a foreign government to force you to renounce your citizenship, even as a condition of citizenship in that country. So as long as you meet the requirements to become a citizen of the United States, it doesn't matter if you are also a Canadian citizen.
Srilankan tamil can obtain citizenship either under citizenship by registration or under citizenship by naturalization but before that one should ascertain that is there any embargo by way of central government circular? if the answer is no a srilankan tamil can apply under Section 5 or 6 of the Citizenship Act or if the answer is yes through court one can obtain citizenship. by S Sathiaseelan - Advocate 09486523937
I do not know if you can marry someone at the Canadian embassy. I doubt it. Why would you want to? Why would you need to? A marriage that is legally performed anywhere in the United States is considered a legal marriage by the Canadian government and courts. Therefore, there is no reason to marry at the embassy. For information on how you get permanent resident status, you should consult the website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada: www.cic.gc.ca/english/ Unless of course if you are gay and lesbian and live somewhere in the US other than Massachusetts....
they should be aware because without the Canadian citizens knowing what is the occurring jobs they will have no idea what is happening in our country and why its being run the way that it is
You have the right to enter Canada if you are a Canadian citizen. The passport should prove your identification, and the citizenship card should prove your citizenship - my guess is a strong yes.
There should be no problem as both of you are Canadian citizens.
When applying for German citizenship, you should ask them for a permission to retain foreign nationality. If they do not approve that, and you still want to become a German citizen, then you should renounce your Canadian nationality.
No, this should mean you'll have duel citizenship. My dad is Canadian (I live in Canada) and my mom is America, I have no trouble traveling there and if I wanted to I could move there.
Yes it is allowed. If you obtain Canadian citizenship, you are allowed to maintain your American citizenship as well. But you should always carry both their passports when traveling between the two.
Is the Canadian citizen also an American citizen or holds citizenship. if so then yes if not then. Technically no. This is because neither party holds a current American citizenship. If the Illegal alien was to marry upon Canadian territory then apply for american citizenship or Visa. But other wise legally no. However they should check.
you should know the oath and u can bring your holy book to swear the oath on it and you must know the rights and responsibilities of citizen and you must take the citizenship test
No, you have to have Canadian citizenship I believe, so if you gain Canadian citizenship you can, but it may take awhile as they do a minimum 10 yr background check. I know a woman who lived in Russia for most of her life joined. If you're willing to gain Canadian citizenship though, you should be able to.
Unfortunately, no! Only the children under the age of 18 are eligible to become a Canadian citizen if their parents become one- this applies even if the child does not reside in Canada. In this case, the parent should apply for them before they turn 18.The spouse and children 18 and above should meet the requirements, apply for citizenship, take the test and if they are approved in all those steps, then finally take the oath of citizenship and become Canadian citizens.
Yes, you do. But if you are of Indian origin, then you should get Overseas Indian Citizenship visa.Overseas Indian Citizenship visa, is a sticker pasted on a visa page on your passport and has lifelongvalidity.
Since the mother herself was born in Canada, the child is eligible for Canadian citizenship. You should contact the nearest Canadian embassy or consulate general to apply for a certificate of Canadian citizenship. In the meantime, the child still can enter to Canada using his/her American passport or birth certificate (birth certificate can be used instead of a passport only if he or she is under 15).
