India does not have any national language.
The official language of the Republic of India (used for parliamentary and legal affairs) is Hindi, and its subsidiary official language is English. A national language is a language which has some connection with a people and perhaps by extension the territory they occupy. Hindi isn't technically an Indian language because it was inherited from the Mughals and hence, is one of the newest languages in the country.
No, not everyone speaks English. Many regions have their own regional languages like south India has got Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada. North has Hindi, Punjabi, Their is assamese and many more. English is the official language of India, besides Hindi and it is also spoken by a wide variety of people. South India also has English as a major language of communication. Purely English speakers can be found there. In north-east,like UP, MP, its Hinglish(Hindi+English)!!
Malayalam is one of the most popular languages and it has received a sreshta bhasha padavi which means best language title.

Bandi is actually an Urdu word. Most of the words that are popularly known as Hindi are in fact Urdu. People of the sub-continent now a days speak Urdu which sometimes incorrectly called Hindi. Bandi literally means "Woman". In modern day language, it used as a slang for a lady, woman or a girl. It is not offensive rather a bit casual way to refer to a person. The male counterpart is "Banda" It would be wrong to say most of the words are Urdu. Indian language in Nort India also got influenced by the language of the Rulers that was Pharsi and a new language was born called Urdu. It is a mix of Hindi, Sanskrit and Pharsi.
