You would be surprised how many different types of sand there are. I have personal experience living in a desert country and they need sand to make cement, and sand for the man made beaches. You see desert sand grains are to big for cement, too salty etc. so you just need the right sand.Another view:Desert sand is much too fine in most cases to use in cement and contains such other impurities as dust, salts and organic matter that makes it unsuitable for construction work. Beach sand is definitely different from desert sand. Beach sand is made up of many different particles not found in desert sand.

I would sell sand in lovely glass jars, marked "authentic desert sand" to tourists, as a memento of their visit to the desert. Even so, I don't think that business would be very brisk. It would be a minor sideline to my primary business, camel racing.
