The benefit of being a citizen
  • Vote in elections
  • Apply for an American passport and travel to many countries without needing a visa
  • Enter and leave the US freely
  • Become a candidate in elections and work at federal level
  • Immunity from getting deported from the US
  • Live and work anywhere in the US
* If you are also born in the US, you can become a candidate for Presidential Elections.
There are many advantages in being a US citizen. The most important is your right to vote. Most Government positions for which elections are required are open only to US citizens. Job opportunities for US citizens are greater. Travel abroad with a US passport is very easy, especially since many countries do not require visas for US citizens. A person with a US passport can stay abroad for any duration of time.

As a US citizen one can bring in more family members to the US more easily. US citizens are eligible for more public benefits, financial and tax benefits too. When a person naturalizes, if he/she has children below 18 years of age who are green card holders, they too automatically become citizens.
Voting Rights
There is more safety, security, and opportunity than in the vast majority of other countries. Most importantly, there exists the right to vote, since the U.S. is a democratic constitutional republic. Public education is farily good, still, in most parts of the U.S. (and this is not a right in the majority of other nations).
The right to vote, you will have a voice in the election process. FREEDOM!
Being a US citizen bestows a person with a great number of benefits like social security, health benefits etc. The prime advantage is that a US citizen gets the right to exercise his/her vote and elect their own representatives. They can also live in the US without any fear of being deported for any crime as US citizens will be held for trial when convicted and not deported.US citizens can also sponsor their close relatives into the US.
Not much. I am an Australian, so I am very bias. The U.S does have advantages over other nations, employment, access to education and health. Finances are incredibly important in the U.S. Make a decision based on FACT, NOT on an ideal of 'The American Dream'. For all its positives, large land base, potential business opportunities, outgoing society, there are multiple negatives. (Sorry if I have offended any U.S citizens, this was not my intention) Assuming you are a legal permanant resident in the U.S. (you have to be for a minimum of two years before you can apply for citizenship), it may depend on where your passport is from. For travel purposes, you can travel to many countries on a U.S. passport without a visa than you can with a passport from certain other countries, for example Central and South American passports.

The so-called ideal of the American Dream manifests itself all the time when people from all parts of the world move to the United States to better their situations, particularly in terms of personal prosperity. This can be seen all over the country with successful businesses that are owned by immigrants. Yes, there are many things in this regard that can be improved, as decades of needless and sloppy regulation and burdensome taxation do make it harder in many places, but generally the government promotes a framework of law that ensures the freedom needed to succeed. There's a reason people sneak into the United States en masse and not the other way around.

Being an American citizen feels like being a citizen of most Western nations. Americans experience many rights as a citizen. They also experience one of the highest average incomes and standards of living in the world. However, this all depends on what part of the US you are referring to, because there are very contrasting areas.
