Colonialism promoted knowledge as British were literate and knew the tacts of politics. To defeat them we also need to be literate. Moreover British also abolished the evil practice of Sati and child marriage which earlier hindered the way of women to be literate. Raja Ram Mohan Roy along with William Bentick encouraged western sciences in India.
